One of my favorite things to do to de-stress is stretch my muscles. There’s just something about the process of slowing down and focusing on my breath that calms me.
Whether you’re dealing with illness, lack of energy, or you’d like a simple stretching routine to start or end your day, today’s videos offer just that.
These stretches can be done anywhere — floor, couch, bed, etc. — and will help to both energize and calm you.
There are two versions — the primary stretching routine + a routine with modified moves for those who have mobility or flexibility concerns.
The videos walk through the entire routine twice. This will allow you to get equal stretching time on each leg and hip.
I’d encourage you to turn your stretches in to prayer time or Scripture meditation. One simple way to do this is to take a phrase from the Bible and repeat it to yourself on each inhale and exhale. For example, using Joshua 1:9, you might do the following:
[inhale] “Be strong.”
[exhale] “Be courageous.”
Choose a favorite Bible passage or verse that speaks to you today and adapt this breathing technique for your own prayer time.
I hope you enjoy this opportunity to recharge your body and spirit.
