I’m so excited to welcome Denise Hunter as my guest today! Denise just happens to be one of my favorite contemporary romance writers, and I’ve got a shelf full of her books to prove it. 🙂 She’s also been one busy lady with a couple new releases coming out, so be sure to check out what she’s been up to at the end of this post.
Before we get to that though, let’s learn more about her…
Denise Hunter is the nationally published author of bestsellers Sweetwater Gap and Surrender Bay. She has won The Holt Medallion Award, The Reader’s Choice Award, The Foreword Book of the Year Award, and was a RITA finalist.
In 1996, inspired by the death of her grandfather, Denise began her first book, writing while her children napped. Two years later it was published, and she’s been writing ever since. Her husband says he inspires all her romantic stories, but Denise insists a good imagination helps too!
When Denise isn’t writing she’s busy raising three heroes-in-the making with her husband.
You can learn more about Denise through her website www.DeniseHunterBooks.com, Facebook, and Twitter.
Welcome, Denise! As a writer who works during naptime, you’ve given me hope. 🙂 Let’s get to the questions, shall we?
Opener Question: What seven words best describe you?
Dependable, observant, honest, devoted, organized, creative, realistic. Man, I sound boring.
Not boring at all! I’d call it intriguing. 🙂
Either/Or Questions:
1)Â Â Â Â Â Great Wall of China or Great Sphinx? Great Sphinx. There’s a certain mysterious quality about it.
2)Â Â Â Â Â Diet or regular? Diet. But I try to limit it because artificial sweeteners are so unhealthy.
3)Â Â Â Â Â Run or walk? Walk! Have mercy, I can’t run to save my life.
4)Â Â Â Â Â From scratch or from the microwave? Depends if I’m eating or cooking.
5)Â Â Â Â Â Take action or take it as it comes? I’m a planner, so I guess I take action.
6)Â Â Â Â Â Cute flats or fuzzy slippers? I tend to wear heels because I have short, stubby legs, but if I’m home, give me the fuzzy slippers.
7)Â Â Â Remember the Titans or Music and Lyrics? Music and Lyrics. I’m a sucker for romantic comedies.
Somehow that last answer doesn’t surprise me, Denise. 🙂 I’m short-legged too, so I understand what you mean about heels! And nothing beats a good pair of slippers. They’re like a good friend…comforting, supportive, and hard to part with. 🙂
Thanks for being my guest today! I loved having you!
The Accidental Bride
Two high-school sweethearts, a wedding reenactment, and one absent-minded preacher. Is it a recipe for disaster or a chance for a new beginning?
Shay Brandenberger is a survivor. She’s lived through a crazy childhood, a failed marriage, and single parenthood–with her confidence intact.
But not for long. Because when Shay participates in her town’s Founder’s Day wedding reenactment, she finds herself face-to-face with the one man who takes her breath away and leaves her weak in the knees: Travis McCoy.
Travis is back in town after years way on the rodeo circuit. His one regret in life is breaking Shay’s heart when they were high-school sweethearts. He’s determined to get it right this time.
So when their Founder’s Day “marriage” is accidentally made official, Travis seizes the day. Can Shay put aside her pride to let Travis help her, or will their accidental marriage be dissolved before it can begin?

Always got to have my slippers. What would my poor toe-ies do without the padded softness of cuddly slippers. Nothing out of the ordinary, just soft, warm, comfortable.
Books sound great.

I’m not much a slipper or shoe person – I’d rather be barefoot or wear my favorite fuzzy socks, but when it gets really, really cold I have a pair of Winnie the Pooh slippers I will break out of the closet.
I also shared on Facebook. Both of these books sound like a great read as we approach Valentine’s Day!

Just shoes and socks for me…oh, and some fuzzy blue socks. I already bought this book! Looking forward to reading it! I really enjoy Denise’s books!

Hi Denise and Sarah, Fun post today 🙂 My slippers are sort of fuzzy, they’re a velvety clog type with a fuzzy trim on the edge, and so comfy.
I’m passing on the giveaway, but enjoyed my visit today!

Welcome Denise and Sarah that’s a great idea having a guest writer on at times on your blog, and introducing your readers to folks who they might have never heard about until they were on your site. Richard

Fun interview, nice to get to know Denise! I actually do not have fuzzy slippers. Mine look more like moccasins. 🙂
Ayda Recknagel says
Good to meet you, Denise. I love the ‘accidental’ marriage concept of your book. I’m looking forward to reading it!
I not only have a pair of fuzzy slippers that I wear ever day in the winter, I have a pair of fuzzy flip-flop slippers for fall and spring when it’s kind of chilly, but not really that cold. 🙂

i have a pair of pink/white fuzzy slippers that i love 🙂
Lindsay Harrel says
Oh, that book sounds intriguing! Nice to meet you, Denise!
And I used to have a pair of zebra-striped fuzzy slippers. They were so comfy. I miss them. I can’t wear my current slippers because they have balls on the ties and my puppy attacks them. *sigh*
Cindy R. Wilson says
Have to say, Sarah! I LOVE these interviews. So fun to learn more about Denise 🙂 I’ve been itching to read this book – have heard wonderful things about it – so I’m glad you’re highlighting it here! I love the fuzzy slippers. Right now my slippers aren’t too fuzzy, but they’re cute. Pink with little coffee cups on them. Oh, and those rubbery soles (like little kid socks) so I don’t slip, which sadly I do often. One reason why I don’t wear heels 🙂

So nice to meet Denise!
I confess, I once owned a pair of pink fuzzy slippers. There, I said it!

Hi everyone! Wow, it’s been busy around here this morning! I’m loving all your slippers. In fact, you’ve inspired me to slip mine on, lol. It’s definitely a fuzzy slipper kind of day around here. 🙂
Denise, it’s my pleasure to host you! Thanks for being here and inspiring fuzzy slipper wearers everywhere. 🙂
Stephanie Jackson says
I used to have warm fuzzy slippers that were shaped like grapes (or olives depending on which way you looked at them).

I have this book and loved it! And oh I have to laugh at the stubby leg comment. Sigh. Glad I’m not the only one. I’m in good company with Denise and Sarah. 😉

Love Denise Hunter’s writing. Each new book is better than the last in my opinion. Borrowed ACCIDENTAL BRIDE from the library. Read it in less thab 24 hours. Some really good stuff about finding our worth in Christ and not the opinions of others. Fuzzy slippers are great. My feet don’t like spikes.
Heidi Chiavaroli says
Thanks for the win last week, Sarah! So excited, and can’t wait to get reading!
Melanie N. Brasher says
Fun interview! I have the book Smitten sitting on my shelf, and I look forward to reading!

Great interview! I’m a fuzzy slippers kind of gal! I have a pair with Daffy heads. I admit, I rarely wear them. I’m clumsy and trip in them!

Thanks for the interview, Ladies! I’ll have to pick up one of Denise’s books.
I have baby blue, fuzzy slippers. They have a white half moon with a cute face on them. (I must be in my second childhood!)

One of my favorite Denise Hunter books is The Convenient Groom. Loved it from page 1 to The End!
As far as fuzzy slippers … um, no, none of those. But I do have a pair of Bronco slippers. 🙂 They match my Bronco PJs. And I take all my Bronco-wear ve-ery seriously.
