Day Two of the 24-Day Challenge* is complete, and one of my takeaways is how much I LOVE herbal tea! More on that below. First, here are my stats.
Breakfast: Hard-boiled egg and a banana (I tried cooking the eggs in the oven per this post, but they didn’t turn out well at all. Either my oven temp was too high or the 30 minutes was way too long. Next time I’ll stick with the tried-and-true stovetop method.)
Lunch: Celery sticks with peanut butter; cucumber and grape tomatoes with hummus.
Supper: I met with my life-coaching group at Paradise Bakery, so I ordered a Strawberry Poppyseed & Chicken Salad. It was delish!!! (I skipped the dressing and had them drizzle olive oil instead. With all the fruit juices, I didn’t miss the dressing!)
Snacks: Unsalted peanuts with raisins; Cherries; Apple slices; Homemade kale chips (I’ll share the recipe in a future post.)
Tea of Choice: Candy cane green tea from Trader Joe’s (I stockpiled last Christmas.) 🙂
Exercise: Yoga at home using my Yoga Studio app
Energy Level: Pretty good. I had a little bit of a “foggy” feeling, which I would attribute to coming off of sugar cold-turkey. Once I get past these first few days, I expect this feeling to start fading.
Other Observations:
– My herbal tea has been a lifesaver! This addiction started before the cleanse, and thankfully most of my teas can be enjoyed during the cleanse too. Whenever I feel a no-no craving coming on (ice cream, anyone?), I grab my thermal mug of tea and start sipping. It feels like an indulgent treat and almost always kicks the cravings to the curb.
– I had a little stomach discomfort today–nothing horrible–but just a little twinge every once in a while. I’ve typically had this happen between Days 2-5 of the Cleanse phase. Most likely it’s part of the major shock my system is undergoing. 🙂 If I stick it out and keep my diet clean, past experience says this will go away soon.
– Since I knew I was eating out for supper, I checked the restaurant’s menu ahead of time and planned what I would eat. This took the guesswork out of it when I actually got there.
All right, that wraps up Day Two. Stay tuned for more tips and observations tomorrow!
