Promises for Moments of Doubt

Do you ever find yourself waffling between self-confidence and doubt? Between believing in your God-given gifts in one moment, then feeling worthless and useless in the next?

I’ve been there lately, and I have a feeling I’m not alone in this. So I thought I’d share some promises straight from God’s Word that have kept me going in those moments of doubt. I pray they encourage you as much as they have me.

“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” ~ Deut. 31:8

“Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.” ~ Psalm 37:4-6

“For you, O God, tested us; you refined us like silver. You brought us into prison and laid burdens on our backs. You let men ride over our heads; we went through fire and water, but you brought us to a place of abundance.” ~ Psalm 66:10-12

You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.” ~ Isaiah 26:3

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” ~ Phil. 4:6-7

And my personal favorite…

“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” ~ Isaiah 40:28-31

Does one of these speak to you in particular? What seasons of life have you been facing lately? Any promises you’ve been clinging to that you’d like to share?

Month-End Report: Potty Training and Operation Super-Wife

What I did this month:

- Changed approximately 200 diapers and Pull-ups
- Potty-trained my little man and (maybe) indulged in a few bites of candy rewards myself
- Became a Twitterer
- Set my alarm for 6:30 every morning (Notice I didn’t say I got up at 6:30 every morning)
- Had an article published on Ungrind
- Critiqued a friend’s manuscript
- Plotted my next novel
- Started Operation Become-Super-Wife (which includes the next 5 items)
- Started a prayer journal and wrote in it every morning
- Read my Bible every day (with a couple exceptions…hey, nobody’s perfect)
- Started reading A Wife After God’s Own Heart and The Power of a Praying Wife and prayed for my husband at least once a day
- Asked God to help me avoid negative words toward my husband (Had to bite my tongue a few times, but my home was so much more peaceful as a result!)
- Sought out a friend to hold me accountable
- Played “jungle”, “kitchen”, “barn”, hide-and-seek, and watched more Mickey Mouse Clubhouse episodes than should be legal
- Prepared for my sister to come down here and start the heart transplant process. She’s being admitted to the hospital today and will start the hopefully not-too-long wait. Please pray for her and for our fellow heart-transplant buddy, Annabelle. Thank you so much!!! I’ll try to keep you updated as I have news to share.

What did you do this month?

*Other Blogging News: I’m being interviewed by Keli Gwyn at Romance Writers on the Journey today! Keli is such a sweet lady, and I was honored to receive the invitation from her. To learn more about me than you probably want to know, come on over and say hi! :)
