What one accomplishment are you most proud of? (And if you’re a mom, you can’t say your kids.
)
(My answer would probably be stepping out to pursue this writing gig. I’ve discovered it isn’t for the faint of heart, but I’ve loved the journey.)
Answer this question in the comments, and you’ll be entered in the drawing for a $10 Amazon e-gift card. Drawing ends on Friday at midnight. Winner will be announced in next week’s post. Good luck and Happy Labor Day!

I am most proud of completing my nursing studies. I have worked in some amazing areas of medicine.
I didn’t realize you were a nurse, Mary. What a rewarding profession.
I was just telling my husband last night I’m still in shock I’m working on my ninth novel. I’d say that–writing eight novels in under five years.
~ Wendy
You are amazing, Wendy. I wish I could write that fast.
I think I’m most proud of being brave enough to take the the step of faith to resign from my financial aid job to pursue the radio job. It was completely unlike me to do something that risky but God has blessed it so much!
It sounds like you’re right where you’re supposed to be, Bekah!
I have been married over 55 years and counting.
Wow, Vera, congratulations!
I am proud of losing 50 lbs at Weight Watchers and keeping it off for 10 yrs, proud of having been married to the same guy for almost 40 yrs, but more than these-proud of the day I LOST my pride and went forward and acccepted Jesus as my Saviour!
I love it, Diana. Great perspective. And congrats on keeping the weight off. Sometimes it’s easier to lose it than to maintain it.
Thank you, Sarah!
I suppose I could say graduating with honors from an Ivy League law school at age 38 with a husband and five young kids in tow, but honestly, it’s still being married after 33 years to the man I married when we were 18.
Wow, Laura, you’ve led a busy life! Congratulations on your accomplishments.
Hmm…I definitely saying writing and finishing a book. So many people say they would like to write one but never do.
So true, Jennifer. And now you’ve completed it not once, but three or more?
Married 55 yrs. this October! And loving to read (120 books this year)!!!
Congratulations on your marriage, Jackie! And 120 books?! Wow. And here I thought I read a lot…
I, too would have to say my efforts in writing.
It’s so rewarding, isn’t it, Jenny? Crazifying too, but the rewarding part always wins out.
I think I’m most proud of taking a Dale Carnegie course at age 16 with a room ful of adults and learning to fight off some of my shyness (which I still battle with) and public speaking in front of a large room of people at an age of self-consciousness. I think my writing and a lot of other things stemmed from this experience.
Wow, Julia, that’s awesome! Sounds like a shaping experience.
I think I’m most proud of my cake baking/decorating achievements. I’ve made a wedding cake, a ton of birthday cakes, graduation cakes, and even a “is it a boy or girl” cake. And I’m not even out of high school yet.
Oh my goodness, Marissa, you are one busy girl! I’d be in trouble in your house…I have a weakness for sugar.
I would say finishing novels. It’s hard work, a bit nauseating at times, but worth the effort.
LOL, Jessica, I know what you mean about nauseating. Makes me wonder why I keep at it sometimes, but I agree…It’s always worth it.
It’s a toss up between finishing my first novel and getting my master’s degree, both while working full time.
Goodness, Lindsay, you’re not busy or anything, are ya?
Hmm, good question! I guess I would have to say stepping out and working on a novel.
Happy Labor Day!
It’s a big step, Karen. Congratulations! And Happy Labor Day to you too!
My marriage, and all that stems from it.
Happy Labor Day!
I’ve loved reading your blog posts about your marriage, Loree, and how you’ve made it a success. Happy Labor Day to you!
The best accomplishment for me was getting out on my own, putting myself through school, and depending on no one to help. That’s after I was told I would never be able to do it.
Sometimes the hurtful words of others propel us to prove them wrong, don’t they, Amy? Congratulations on your accomplishments!
Being able to walk away from an abusive marriage when everyone else was saying stay.
Wow, Sarah, That takes a ton of courage. I’m proud of you for being brave.
Thank you
Wrapping every new niece and nephew in love with a handmade/hand quilted quilt. That’s 24 and counting!
Oh my goodness, 24 quilts?! What a treasure for your nieces and nephews!
I just have to jump in here and thank everyone for your comments! I love getting to know you all better. Keep ‘em coming!
i suppose it would be getting my marriage and family therapy license. it’s opened so many doors for me–and i know it’s where God wants me to be, using my strengths.
Nothing beats the contentment of being where we’re supposed to be. I love that, Jeannie.
Love this question, Sarah. I could fill in the blank with a lot of different answers, but I will go with: learning to forgive … and relearning and relearning and relearning …
70 times 7, right, Beth?
I would have to say running our youth camp every summer. As a teen, I would never have been the person anyone would have picked to be in a leadership type of role – I was always shy and quiet. Now my husband and I run a camp for 65 teens for a week and have a blast doing it. That is definitely more of God’s greatest accomplishment through us than anything we can do on our own!
That’s awesome, Debbie! I didn’t realize you were doing that. You’ve had a great example of service in your parents.
Awesome question! I think I’m going to say relationships. It might sound dumb to say this, but I does make me feel proud when I know I’ve had a good sister, good daughter or good friend moment.
That’s not dumb at all, Melissa! We take good relationships for granted far too often, when in reality it takes a lot of work and effort.
Well, if I can’t say my kids.
The obivous one would be my writing journey, but I have another one from this summer. I went on a long, hot, hard hike with some youth from our church down in Moab. I didn’t have time to prep before I found out I was going, but I made it the whole way and even did a 30-foot rappell near the end. It felt amazing to accomplish that!
Wow, Stacy, that sounds like an adventurous hike! I had to do a rappel once and was totally freaked out. Congrats on the accomplishment!
Definitely graduating nursing school!
Not an easy thing to do. Congratulations, Liz!

The one accomplishment that I am most proud of was making it on my own after my husband left me after 25 years of marriage. I felt ashamed, unloved, unwanted, and most certainly undesirable. I hung on to my Lord and Savior as though my life depended on it. If I was a non-believer I would have never made it through. God showed me that he was right beside me all the way.
Wow, what an awesome testimony, Judy. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Sarah -
Like you, this writing journey has challenged me. I’ve had some successes on the non-fiction side, but haven’t broken through the publication barrier on the fiction side…YET.
Blessings,
Susan
I have a feeling your shining moment is coming, Susan.
great question, sarah…my greatest accomplishment is caring for my mom…until God called her home.
What a beautiful gift to your mother, Karen. And I’m sure you have many wonderful memories from that time too.
I think my major accomplishment was graduating college with honors. I have a lot of trouble focusing so it was a real challenge for me but worthwhile
That’s awesome, Shannon! Way to go!
I am proud of my job working in law enforcement
I can imagine your job must bring lots of highs and lows, Ashley. Thanks for the work you do!
I am proud of my Counseling degree.

Congratulations, Alaine! A very rewarding profession, I’m sure.
