Where’s your favorite place to read a book in the summer?
(I love reading a book while lounging on the swing on my back patio. Or if I’m on vacation, a poolside chair.
)

Well I’m sure hoping it will be the new hammock I just bought! Seems a perfect place.
(Barring, of course, unbearable heat or constant rain!)
Oohhh, I’m jealous, Bekah! A hammock sounds wonderful!
In all seasons & weather, my comfy lounge chair is the best. It’s my number one reading spot.
A year-round reading spot. I love it, Mary!
I live on side of a mtn and have no neighbors. I love to sit out back to read. It’s so peaceful.
Oh wow, Amy, I can’t imagine the beautiful views you must see out your windows!
Sitting outside on my patio reading while hearing the birds sing and other creatures carrying on with their tunes. A gentle breeze and a diet soda makes it perfect!
Blessings!
Judy
That does sound perfect, Judy! I’m listening to the birds chirp as I type right now.
I love reading on my back porch…..it is private (in the country), and I enjoy lots of birds and other creatures!
Do you have squirrels, Jackie? They’re the most entertaining animals, aren’t they?
If it’s not too hot our sunroom porch or on a chair in the backyard. I’d say the beach, but I’m not a big beach reader. I’d rather be building sand drip castles and jumping in the waves w/ my kids.
~ Wendy
I’m not a big beach reader either, Wendy. But I’m not much of a sun person in general. If there’s an umbrella on the beach, though, count me in.
I’m a fan of the hammock and poolside!
Is said hammock by the pool, Jessica, or are you just dreaming that it is?
If at home, I sit in my swing amongst my flowers, and my tinkling, relaxing water fountain. If not at home, definitely love reading at the beach!
The flowers and water fountain sound wonderful, Diana! I need to hire someone with a green thumb to put that setting in my yard.
Your picture looks perfect. I love to be on the beach, beneath the shade of an umbrella with the kids playing NICELY several feet away.
LOL, Heidi, Nicely is the key word, isn’t it?
On the porch swing out back!
Ditto that, Katie!
Depends on how hot it is outside…but I love reading by the pool or under our patio with the misters going!
Misters, Lindsay? I assume you mean the kind of misters that spray water on you and not the kind of mister that mans your grill, right?
Yes, the water kind. Although, my mister HAS been grilling up a storm lately.
Win-win!
Poolside, margarita in hand. And no, that doesn’t happen too often. In fact, I don’t think it has ever happened (but it still sounds nice). LOL
One can always dream, right, Jenny?
I have a corner in my sunroom with a comfortable chair where I like to read year round. Love reading at the beach but don’t go there much anymore.
Your sunroom spot sounds perfect, Wilma.
On my love seat “napping couch” curled up under my “napping blanket”. It’s kind of a year round thing for me.
And I’m assuming this takes place during the kiddo’s naptime, right, Stephanie?
I have a favorite comfy chair in my living room (if it’s really hot outside), otherwise I will sit in the shade on the deck.
I love having shade in my backyard, Karen. Our patio is always shaded in the evening and it’s the perfect place to spend the end of a summer day.
Outside during a cool evening, with a glass of iced tea. Yup. If I had a hammock, I would definitely be in that, though!
The beverage is just as important as the location, isn’t it, Cindy?
Ooh, at my parents’ house…in their sunroom…or out in the hot tub in the evening.
Just so you don’t drop your book in the hot tub, Melissa!
Wherever I am when an opportunity presents itself! I always have a book or my Kindle with me.
I love that, Susan! My mom used to bring a book whenever I had piano lessons, and she was known to pull it out at a train stop if the story was good enough.
on my front porch
How fun to have a front porch, Karen! It’s on my wish list for “someday”.
Our busy life doesn’t allow us too much spare time. Whenever I have an opportunity I love to hide in my house and peacefully enjoy my reading.
I totally understand, Dana! I’ll read a book anywhere as long as peace and quiet is involved.
It would be a front porch (one day I’ll have one:)). For now, I enjoy reading in our chair beside the window.
I hear ya, Melanie. Maybe we can find front-porch houses right next to each other and read (and write) to our hearts’ content.
I love reading while sitting on our bench outside. Actually I love any place that is warm and sunny!
Amen!
It’s usually either too hot or too windy (or both) to read outside now so my favorite place year round to read is curled up on my loveseat.
Thanks for giving away an Amazon e-card to someone.
I know what you mean, Pam. Once the weather turns hot, I’m usually holed up in my house.
On the couch by an open window with a cool breeze blowing through it.
Sounds perfect, Beth! In fact, I’m enjoying a breeze like that right now.
On my hubz hammock on the back deck – also great for stargazing.
Oh I love stargazing, Loree! We have too many lights to see much, but I love when I’m out in the country and can see stars for miles.
I have a small, shaded patio & a comfy chair … it’s perfect for reading on a lazy afternoon.
Sounds perfect!
Anywhere! That’s where.
Love it, Rhonda!
nice comfy chair right by the breeze (either by the window or door)

Nothing beats the perfect breeze, right, Janice?
Quiet library with AC (summer gets blazing hot here)
Sounds good, Wen! AC is a life-saver in the summer.
On my bed in a quiet house!
“Quiet” being the operative word, right, Stacy?
If I have a book in my hand, any place is my favorite!
I love to read in the bath, in the van on a long drive, on a lawn chair by the river or in bed late at night!
Oh I wish I could read in the car, Gabrielle! I get carsick if I try it.
I guess it’s God’s way of telling me I need to pay attention and drive.
My grandparents wooden swing that I have on my deck.
What a lovely keepsake to have, Tanya! The house I grew up in had a wooden swing on the front porch, and I have great memories of sitting on it and enjoying the day.
Love this question, Sarah! Our current subdivision has a neighborhood pool, so my fave place to read is in a lounge chair, poolside! In a few weeks, we’re moving, and no more pool *tears*, so I’ll have to find a new spot.
Aw bummer about no pool, Jill. But exciting about the move!
I love to read just about anywhere, but my favorite place to read right now is curled up on the couch during naptime. I have also been known to enjoy reading the bathroom when the house is somewhat chaotic and David is home from work to watch the kiddos.
