What’s your favorite Easter tradition?
(I wish I had something deeply spiritual to share for mine, but our family tradition was to have a knock-down-drag-out Easter egg hunt with all the cousins. We even continued them into our twenties. And yes, my grandparents’ neighbors probably gave us some weird looks.

Answer this question in the comments, and you’ll be entered in the drawing for a $10 Amazon e-gift card. Drawing ends on Friday at midnight. Winner will be announced in next week’s post. Good luck!
–On a side note, it’s Spring Break here and I have family coming to visit, so I’ll be offline the rest of this week. (The exception will be on Wednesday…I’ll be posting at The Writers Alley about contest judging.) Hope you all have a fantastic week and a Happy Easter!
*The winner of last week’s Cara Putman giveaway is Jo Huddleston! I’ll contact you this week with details.

Even though I have not continued it, my favorite Easter tradition was when my Mom would make a lamb shaped cake with coconut (died green) grass and jelly beans. It was very cute and from a young age, I always crawled on the table to get to the lamb, so I am told. And, I loved Easter dresses. With two boys, I don’t get to enjoy buying them dresses like that. I love to see all of the girls dressed up at church on Easter.
I loved the Easter dresses! As a kid, it was always fun to get a new dress and even new white gloves!
Definitely the egg hunt at the grandparents with my cousins. Loved this too, Sarah!
Hope you have a great spring break!
My fave tradition is no longer a tradition.
For most of my life I was part of the Marion Easter Pageant, and it made Easter…Easter. They’ve had to discontinue it and it’s just not the same. But I do have amazing memories from those years!
Ahhh… the good old Easter egg hunts at Grandma and Grandpa’s! We missed a lot of them when we were at Bliss, but I have some great memories. I think that fed my competitive spirit from a young age!
My favorite tradition we have in our family is coloring Easter eggs. We try to do it outside to minimize the mess!
Painting the eggs with the family, then on to the Easter egg hunt in our yard.

We did an Easter egg hunt in the mornings when I was a kid…my poor little brother had to work pretty hard (though he got help from my parents!) to get any eggs with me around!
After attending church Easter Sunday, my grown kids and gkids come over for dinner. I always cook a ham, potato salad, macaroni and cheese, the whole nine yards! The gift card would make a nice gift for my anniversary. We will be married 39 yrs. April 3. We don’t look it (really! lol), but we started our family young—we were high school sweeethearts!
I love Easter Sunday services at the church I grew up in. They’re so full of celebration! And…not going to lie…I love getting a new Easter dress!
Congrats to Jo! I guess my favorite tradition was our family dinner. Have a lovely week!
i grew up in a church with large Easter cantatas every year, so to me, it’s not Easter without a huge choir production, live animals, pageantry, banners, etc.
and nothing wrong with a little competitive Easter egg hunting. i’ve been hiding eggs around the house so my daughter can practice and get an edge on the other kids next week. how awful is that?
Our church holds an Easter Egg Hunt for the kids and has a potluck after the service. I look forward to that.
I hope you have a great time with your relatives, Sarah.
I make a traditional Slovak Easter cheese – or “egg cheese” ~ It’s a recipe passed down from my mother’s side of the family. I make it every year. My kids love it and look forward to eating it. It’s a special Easter family tradition that I’ve managed to keep alive.
Happy Easter, Sarah!
Sarah, we used to have a big family gathering at my Nana’s house with all of my cousins. We, too, would hunt for Easter eggs (some were filled with silver dollars!) and, of course, we’d have a big family dinner with all the traditional Easter fare. Wonderful memories!
Now, my Nana’s in Heaven, but we still celebrate with a family get-together following church services.
I enjoy the special music of Easter. When my daughter was young, I always sewed her a new dress for Easter to wear to church. Now she’s in college and doesn’t like to wear dresses! We often would have a family dinner on Easter with an egg hunt for the kids.
My favorite Easter tradition is going to church with my family in the morning and then having dinner at my Grandma’s nursing home.
When my Mom was alive and my daughter was young, we had egg hunts for days!! Also, Mom would prepare a great lunch including those “flower pots” with oreos on bottom (for the dirt) and ice cream on top with a plastic flower inserted to look like an Easter basket.
Sure would enjoy the Amazon gift card! Thanks!!

My favorite Easter tradition is going to church early in the morning on Sunday and hosting an easter egg hunt afterward
the egg hunting (of course!)
As a child I remember Easter Sunday morning before church us kids would run downstairs to find our hidden Easter baskets. Although we are all grown now, mom still likes to give us goodies at Easter (although she doesn’t hide them anymore!).

We’ve made a set of the Resurrection eggs. I love watching my husband go through them with our caboose kiddo while our oldest kiddos watch. Meaningful and fun time.
My favorite Easter tradition would have to be coming back from church on Easter Sunday to a massive brunch. I mean the works.
Our tradition is having Sunday brunch, often at home, after attending the early morning Easter Sunday mass. We also prepare for our brunch by decorating with our fresh cut blooms from our garden.
Definitely the egg hunt with real dyed eggs in my family’s living room!
We go to church, and in recent years I’ve done a sign language special every Resurrection Sunday. We also indulge in our favorite chocolate bunnies, chocolate-covered marshmallow eggs, and M&M’s. Get the idea we like chocolate?
We always had an Easter meal together and the little ones had an easter egg hunt!!! Thanks!! frederickmolly@yahoo.com
Probably dying Easter eggs with the kids. Though it can be messy, they always have such a great time!
my favourite easter tradition is going to church during holy week services.
