In honor of St. Patrick’s Day this month, what’s your favorite green food?
(Mine is a tie between kiwi and pears. And green M&Ms.
)
Answer this question in the comments, and you’ll be entered in the drawing for a $10 Amazon e-gift card. Drawing ends on Friday at midnight. Winner will be announced in next week’s post. Good luck!

My favorite green food would have to be Granny Smith Apples . Crunchy & juicy & everything delicious.
Yum, Mary! And they’re one of my faves to make in pie too.
Shoot…you took mine! Green M&Ms!
Boy this is a tough one as I really don’t like vegetables or anything mint. And that’s about all the green stuff I can think of! So I’ll go with broccoli – in a broccoli salad, paired with bacon and onion and…and..
Oh I love that salad too, Bekah! One of my faves.
Green grapes or kiwi
Sounds like you’re covered on the Vitamin C, Tammy!
I think most any green fruit or veggie. But I like green beans cooked Southern style. That doesn’t mean (in my case) with ham but just well cooked and well seasoned.
I’m getting a hankering for Cracker Barrel all the sudden, Vera.
Yum!
I like asparagus and fresh spinach…and green m&ms.
Whew, Julie, I was gonna start worrying about you with all that asparagus and spinach…Glad you balanced it out with the M&Ms.
Ellie’s favorite would be green beans, Jacob’s would be green pancakes. Personally, I like green Skittles!
Haha! I love it, Debbie. I completely forgot about Skittles. Definitely need to add them to my list.
mint chocolate chip ice cream!
Yes! I thought of this one after my post went live, Jen. This is definitely one of my faves too.
Green bell peppers, french cut string beans, lettuce – yes, I like my veggies!
Hi Susan! And now I know why you look so skinny and healthy in your picture.
KALE! (Truly. Love that stuff)
Oohhh, Kale is a super-healthy food, Jennifer! Lots of good stuff in there.
I love green M&Ms too, but next up would be a nice Caesar salad!
Yum, Heidi! Caesar salad is delish. Do you like yours with anchovies or without?
Thanks for a fun, simple question on a Monday.
Favorite green food: I’ll go with avocados because my family makes the best homemade guacamole ever!
I’ll admit I’m not a huge guacamole fan, Beth, but avocados are growing on me.
Comment just got eaten…I’ll try again.
I love so many green foods, Sarah! Fried Okra (in healthy olive oil or something like that), eggplant, & steamed asparagus. And garden fresh green beans seasoned with a little salt pork, pepper, onion, and a tsp. of sugar.
Oh wow, Cynthia, You mentioned a couple foods I haven’t tried or haven’t eaten much. And your green bean recipe sounds delicious!
I LOVE spinach!!!
I’ll start calling you Popeye now, Melanie.
Broccoli and Romaine lettuce! But not together.
Haha, Diana! I see a new salad concoction in your future.
Definitely green grapes! Can’t wait for summer when they’ll be cheap! Yay! (lots of exclamation points today!)
Hi Lindsay! Yay for cheap!
And summer will be here before you know it.
I really love honeydew melons! Can’t go wrong with that stuff.
My favorite kind of honeydew is the list I give my husband every Saturday. “Honey, can you fix the leaky faucet?” Oh yeah, and the other kind of honeydew is good too.
Thanks for visiting, Roub!
Pistachio pudding!
I didn’t even think about pistachios…Good one!
At first I couldn’t think of a green food I eat and then I remembered–green beans–I LOVE them and usually pick them for every meal I can.
I know what you mean, Terri. I got stuck thinking of just a couple things and then reading all these responses is reminding me of other green things I like.
Spring greens. My hubby and enjoy them in salads year ’round.
I love the color of them too, Keli. So pretty on a plate.
OK. Call me slow. I was so busy choosing between broccoli and spring greens when I saw the post the first time that didn’t even notice that I’d won a copy of Tricia’s book. How exciting! Thanks, Sarah.
LOL, Keli, Broccoli and spring greens are a pretty tempting distraction.
Fun!!
Can watermelon count since the outside is green?
If not, I’d go with grapes. Oh, or cucumbers. mmm…
For sure, Melissa! I count watermelon for green, red, and pink.
Oh, that’s easy….kale! Love it for salads, in green smoothies, or heaped with dill sauce and served with salmon. Yum!
Oh wow, Jen, that dill sauce idea sounds awesome! I love my fish.
Roasted asparagus sprinkled with lemon juice…and mint chocolate chip ice cream – not together of course.
LOL, Loree, I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t want those two together. But the ice cream would make a great palate cleanser AFTER the asparagus.
Oooh, I love green foods! It definitely depends on the day. Green M&M’s are awesome for those days I have a sweet tooth. I like green beans and leafy greens for those healthier days. Mmm, and pears and and melons. Yum!
Hi Cindy! My days are usually a combination of the three you mentioned, LOL.
Green beans for sure…..could eat them every day!
jackie.smith [at] dishmail [dot] net
Not a bad thing to eat every day, Jackie! Much better than green M&Ms.
Avocados
Yum!
~ Wendy
Hi Wendy! I love chopping them on top of a salad. They add balance to the texture.
Broccoli. One of my favorite veggies!
Hi Lacie! Especially with cheese on top.
I do like green peanut M&Ms, and I also like broccoli, kiwi, and green peppers. Oh, and one of my favorite green things to drink is Starbucks Green Tea Frappuccino.
Can’t forget the frappuccino, Karen!
Hi everyone! It’s turning out to be a super-crazy day here, so I may not be able to respond individually to you all.
BUT, I just wanted to say how much fun I’m having reading all your responses! I’m uber-impressed with the kale, spinach, and broccoli lovers in the group. And to those who mentioned green Skittles and mint chocolate chip ice cream, I need to add those to my list too!
Thanks, everyone, for participating and keep the responses coming!
Don’t laugh: collard greens and cornbread! Okay, cornbread isn’t green but you can’t have one and not the other!
Oohhh, cornbread is a fave of mine, Tamika! I’ve seen it with chopped chilies mixed in, so we’ll count it as green.

At the risk of seeming odd, I like broccoli. As a child, I disliked green vegetables. But my tastebuds changed as I matured. (read: got older.
Isn’t it funny how we learn to like different foods, Cecelia? My kids are in the picky-eating stage, and I keep telling myself they’ll learn to like those things someday.
Broccoli! I *love* my slightly fried and burnt broccoli. Cooking it is an art, but oh so yummy!
Slightly fried and burnt…Now THIS I have to try, Casey!
Hmmm…. my favorite green food would have to be green jello or grapes.
marissamehresman(at)aol(dot)com
Or how about green grapes IN the green jello?
Thanks for visiting, Marissa!
I love green peppers!
Hi Amy! I’ll admit I’m not a huge green pepper fan, but I do love them in fajitas!
green m&ms (and then broccoli / cauliflower)
Gotta keep them in the proper order, right, Janice?
i like spinach. and not the kind out of a can. yuck.
Ew, definitely agree with you there, Jeannie!
I love cucumbers! They’re crisp and refreshing.
I agree, Lynda! They’re a great palette cleanser.
green grapes and broccoli
thanks
Hmm, I wonder if you could pair those together, Julie. Maybe a variation on a broccoli salad?
its delicious lol no just kidding
Sugar snap peas. Yum!
Hi Stacy! Especially in stir-fry.
i love fresh green peppers!
Mine are green apples!
I haven’t found a green food that I don’t like. This week, however, I’m in love with avocados. Luscious green!! Thanks, as always, for this opportunity!
