Rice cakes: Just OK.
I eat them sometimes.
Usually I buy a bag … and it gets half-eaten and then thrown out.
I know — wasteful.
LOL, Beth, I’ve been known to do that too.
CANNOT do rice cakes. Cake. Yes. Rice. Yes. The marriage of the two? Nope.
But then again, I said that about yogurt and now I have it every morning for breakfast and if you promise not to tell, I’ll admit to liking it.
Your secret is safe with me, Bekah.
I used to eat a lot of rice cakes a long, long time ago. Now, not so much. But I do like the sound of the maple almond butter. Where I can get that yummy stuff?
Happy Friday, Sarah!
I buy it at my local Kroger store in the organic section, Cynthia. If you don’t have a Kroger, any organic type of store or section will usually have almond butter. Or you might get lucky and find it near the peanut butter? I haven’t looked for it there, but it’s worth a shot.
I LOVE the cheddar rice cakes by Quaker. I don’t feel deprived from a cheese puff at all.
Have a great weekend!
Oh yum, I haven’t tried those, Jessica. They sound good!
The flavored ones have so many unhealthy additives, gmo soy lecithin for one, I wish they were healthier for you but if you are allergic to soy stay clear. I have to have the plain ones, but they are a great alternative to bread if you need something gluten free.
I like the apple cinnamon flavor OK. My poor husband went through a period of time when he was about 11-13 when he was allergic to wheat and dairy. So when he attended pizza parties? He got rice cakes. When everyone around him ate ice cream? Rice cakes. Yeah, luckily he outgrew that allergy!!
Aw, your poor hubby, Lindsay! That’s absolute torture.
I have rice cakes sometimes. I prefer the cheddar or chocolate ones.
Have a great weekend!
Oohhh, they have chocolate ones, Karen? I need to keep an eye out for those.
I’m with Jess, Quaker makes a great rice cake. My favorite flavor is the apple cinnamon. Yum yum!
Those sound good, Lacie! I just bought the caramel flavored ones, so I’m curious to see how they taste.
Been eating them lately with Nutella. Yep, oh yum!
Bring on the fat, baby!
~ Wendy
Oh my word, that’s a brilliant idea, Wendy! I have some Nutella in my pantry as I type. Not sure why I never thought to combine the two.
And fat isn’t a bad thing, especially when you combine it with the carbs of the rice cake. It makes a good filling snack.
Love rice cakes with apple butter.
Love puffed rice cereal with bananas. Yum.
Oohhh, good idea to put apple butter on top, Loree! Yum.
I have some rice cakes in my cupboard right now. White cheddar. Yummy in their own way, but not when compared to shortbread, which is my downfall.
I guess we’re allowed a downfall or two, Keli (or in my case, ten or twenty).
Ha! I actually like the ones mixed with popcorn. It’s a filling snack. LOL
I haven’t heard of those, Jennifer. Something new to check out!
Your enthusiasm leaves me open to at least giving this snack a try:)
You’ve gotta try everything at least once, right, Tamika?
Years ago, I ate Quaker Caramel Rice Cakes. I liked them a lot, but never thought to put anything on them. Nutella is good, but has a gazillion calories. A family member sent me something about making a concoction of honey and cinnamon. Now that has possibilities. I need something healthy and Lactose free for snacking.
i like the quaker rice cakes that are small bite-sized pieces. i like the chocolate, caramel, and cheddar kinds. maddy likes them too.
i’m sure they aren’t “good” for you like the pictures of what you’ve got there….but they have to be better than chips, right?
