Month-End Report: Proud New Owner of a Mommy Van

My month in 200 words or less…

TV Choice: Little Einsteins for my son. Winter Wipeout for me. Dizzy Dummy gets me every time.
Book Choice: Rumble in the Jungle for my son. Power of a Praying Wife for me. Didn’t have much time for fiction reading this month.
Favorite Blog: Books & Such. Always good info, but they’ve been on a roll lately.
Writing Pal Shoutout: Keli Gwyn . . . Love, love, love her.
Favorite New Buy: A minivan!!! Yes, I’m one of those moms now.
Toughest moment(s): Having my hubby away for a week while my sister was in the hospital. Praying every day that she’d get a new heart and hearing God say, “Wait”.
Favorite Moment(s): Lots of good sister time. Hearing my daughter say “mama” and watching her learn how to give baby kisses. Experiencing the thrill of starting a new story.

What about you? Copy this list into the comments and fill it out for yourself. I’d love to hear about your month!

  1. I think my blog readers will wish I kept my monthly recap to 200 words or less! Woops! I can’t believe your daughter is talking already – how did she get so big!? She’s still a brand new baby in my mind!!

  2. I agree w/ Books & Such on a roll.

    TV: Sadly, The Bachelor
Book: The Blessings of the Animals
Blog: Tough…so many…cba ramblings still high on my list
Writing Pal Shoutout: Jennie Allen (loved having her on my blog)
New Buy: $10 sweater from TJ Maxx
Toughest Moment: windshield wiper broke for the second time, snow dumped on us, kids sick & out of school…cooped up & cabin fever
Favorite Moment: laughing w/ my fam. last night when we had the hardest time guessing DD’s animal in this animal game we play.

Fun game! We can honk at each other in our soccer mom cars (or pretend to hundreds of miles away).
    ~ Wendy

  3. TV Choice: Sort of in between shows right now, for my kids: Phineas and Ferb (okay, I think it’s funny, too)
Book Choice: In Every Heartbeat by Kim Vogel Sawyer (loved it)
Favorite Blog: I think I’d have to echo the Books & Such blog. Writing Pal Shoutout: Hmm, so many great ones to pick from.
Favorite New Buy: Pillows for my living room.
Toughest moment(s): Having my husband’s back out again and trying to help our four-year-old sort out some OCD habits.
Favorite Moment(s): Watching my thirteen-month-old learning to walk on her own and helping a friend going through a rough time.

  4. Congratulations on your new set of wheels, Sarah. What fun!

I feel for you as you wait for the news that your sister is getting her new heart. That’s got to be sooo tough. Hugs to both of you.

Thanks for the shout out. I’m honored. =D

  5. Congrats on the new car! I’m sending virtual hugs and soothing hot drinks for you and your sister while you wait. Many prayers being said, Sarah!

  6. Sarah,

you’ve joined the soccer moms:) I never thought the day would come, but I have to say I love the extra space!

And I keep praying for your sister, friend. You’re on my heart a lot these days and I can’t wait to see you soon!
    -Mel

  7. Bekah, She’s still a brand-new baby in my mind too. But I must say, the giggles and smiles are way more fun than 20 hours of sleeping (and not through the night, mind you). :)

  8. Wendy, I hear ya on the cabin fever. Does sunshine and warmth still exist? In Hawaii, I suppose. Or in the Greek Isles. Weren’t we supposed to go there together? :)

  9. Stacy, Aww, you have a little tike at home too? Just starting to walk…hmm, sounds like “Mom” will be on the move now too. :)

  10. Keli, Thanks for the hugs. I don’t think any of us expected the wait to reach 5 weeks. Holding on to hope that only comes from God.

  11. Heather, Thanks for the prayers and the hot drinks. I’ll take a nonfat caramel macchiato please. :)

  12. Mel, A fellow mommy van driver! The extra space is awesome. And so are the automatic door openers. :)

  13. I’m praying for your sister! I’m glad you are clinging to the Lord and his ‘wait’ must be the right thing for now. Believe!

  14. A MINIVAN?! How exciting! I confess as I try to lug my kid’s carseats and bags and toys in and out of the bagseat that sometimes I wish I had a minivan. Congrats!

    TV Choice: Chuck. Love it.

Book Choice: That’s too hard to choose. I just read Patti Lacy’s new one (loved it) and Kathi Lipp’s “The Me Project” and also loved it.

Favorite Blog: Rachelle’s blog is always a fav.

Writing Pal Shoutout: Tana Adams for signing an agent and Katie Ganshert for getting a book deal.

Favorite New Buy: A pair of $5 grey leggings from Target. They are so comfy!

Toughest moment(s): This sounds shallow but waiting for my book to release. It was endless. Which, I know, doesn’t even COMPARE to what you went through… I’m lucky.

Favorite Moment(s): I met my editor from Guideposts yesterday and I loved her just as much in person as I do in real life…she’s fabulous.

  15. Erin, $5 leggings! Comfort is a must. And how exciting to meet your editor in person! Thrilled for your book release! (Okay, my exclamation-point button is begging for mercy now.) :)

  16. My son and I both like Winter Wipeout :) He thinks it’s hilarious when they fall in the water.

  17. Julie, I think injuries to other people must amuse toddlers. My son cracks up at stuff like that too. Or maybe it’s just boys? :)

  18. Oh wow– you have news!! I hope to hear wonderful news for your sister soon too!
Toughest moment for me was starting my new job last week
Favorite moment though was finding all my coworkers are sweet people:)
TV choice last week is a toss up–Grey’s Anatomy, Idol

  19. So many of these little blurbs touch one part of me or another. Thinking of you and your family, Sarah! Prayers for the transplant.

  20. Terri & Janna, Thank you so much for the prayers for my sister. I’m anxious to get to the hospital today and see how she’s doing. She was still heavily sedated yesterday.

  21. Sarah, I’m glad everything is going OK so far for your sister. Keep us posted.

  22. I look forward to knowing you better in the coming weeks. I really am liking the “bones” of monthly sharing. I’ll try to get in the groove. I also appreciate the heads up re. Keli Gwyn. I’ve already checked her out.

I’m trying to figure out how to (if possible) “follow” your blogs w/o using NetWork Blogs….. I’d like all my “followings” to be in one place, but not sure if possible…

You’ve been through an intense period, emotionally & physically. Give “normalcy” time to return.
