Month-End Report: Potty Training and Operation Super-Wife

What I did this month:

- Changed approximately 200 diapers and Pull-ups
- Potty-trained my little man and (maybe) indulged in a few bites of candy rewards myself
- Became a Twitterer
- Set my alarm for 6:30 every morning (Notice I didn’t say I got up at 6:30 every morning)
- Had an article published on Ungrind
- Critiqued a friend’s manuscript
- Plotted my next novel
- Started Operation Become-Super-Wife (which includes the next 5 items)
- Started a prayer journal and wrote in it every morning
- Read my Bible every day (with a couple exceptions…hey, nobody’s perfect)
- Started reading A Wife After God’s Own Heart and The Power of a Praying Wife and prayed for my husband at least once a day
- Asked God to help me avoid negative words toward my husband (Had to bite my tongue a few times, but my home was so much more peaceful as a result!)
- Sought out a friend to hold me accountable
- Played “jungle”, “kitchen”, “barn”, hide-and-seek, and watched more Mickey Mouse Clubhouse episodes than should be legal
- Prepared for my sister to come down here and start the heart transplant process. She’s being admitted to the hospital today and will start the hopefully not-too-long wait. Please pray for her and for our fellow heart-transplant buddy, Annabelle. Thank you so much!!! I’ll try to keep you updated as I have news to share.

What did you do this month?

*Other Blogging News: I’m being interviewed by Keli Gwyn at Romance Writers on the Journey today! Keli is such a sweet lady, and I was honored to receive the invitation from her. To learn more about me than you probably want to know, come on over and say hi! :)

  1. Praying for your sister, Sarah. And isn’t Goofy silly in those episodes. My favorite is “Shake shake shake your peanuts, baby elephant come down from that tree,” or something like that. I’ve seen my share as well.
    ~ Wendy

  2. My you are one busy woman!! I don’t think I did half that amount. I was thinking about your sister this morning and will pray too. I met a woman at a conference who wrote a book about being a getting her heart–it’s been over five years and she is dynamite about it:)

  3. I’m privileged to have you as my guest today, Sarah. I had fun learning more about you, especially you’re new take on what CPA really means. =)

    I’m praying for your sister.

  4. Whoa. You HAVE been busy. :)

Your sister is still in my prayers.

  5. LOL, Wendy, It’s funny how these silly songs get stuck in our heads. “Mousekersize” is on in the background as I type. :)

  6. Terri, It’s so encouraging to hear of a success story! I’m sure my sister will be amazed at the energy she feels with a new heart…The process is just a little scary to get there. :)

  7. Keli, To make the madness even madder, we have 4 CPAs in my family. That many perfectionists in the same room can make for an interesting gathering. :)

  8. Jennifer, It’s funny…Until I wrote out this list, I knew I was busy but I just took it one moment at a time so it didn’t feel that bad. Now I’m overwhelmed. :)

  9. Hi Sarah!! First of all, I read about your sister on a few other blogs recently and I’m PRAYING hard. I’m glad the transplant process has started… thanks for keeping us updated. Second of all, I love your “Operation Superwife” idea… I’ve read “The Power of a Praying Wife” and it’s so powerful– but I have to admit that I’ve gotten out of the habit of praying for my husband. This is a great reminder!

  10. WOW! You are superwoman! I’m praying for your sister and for Annabelle. I hope you remember to catch a breather this next month! *hugs*

  11. Erin, I’ve started Power of a Praying Wife different times before and let it slip, too. The difference this time is I have someone holding me accountable. It’s hard to skimp when I know she’ll be asking me about it later. :)

  12. LOL, T. Anne. If Superwoman is perpetually tired, then that sums me up.

  13. Wow, you’ve accomplished a ton! You are amazing!

I hear you on eating some of the potty training rewards:)

And I keep praying for your sister.

    Mel

  14. LOL, Mel, Glad I’m not the only one who sneaks in some candy once in a while. In fact, I think I might drag out this potty training stuff just so I have an excuse to keep the stash around. :)

  15. Oh, boy. You get the Medal of Honor for completing Potty Training 101. Seriously! Last year, 2010, was the year I awarded myself that very medal. Held my own ceremony and everything. The column that week started like this: “Houston, we have a tinkle.” And the community rejoiced with us, just as I do with you. (grinning)

Would fax you a white chocolate mocha if I could in celebration.

    Waving and smiling,

    Rhonda

  16. Rhonda, Thanks for the offer of the mocha! We’re not completely graduated from potty training school, but maybe soon? No one told me about this joyous aspect of parenting when I signed up for the job. :)

  17. It sounds like you are knocking it out of the park girl! Will pray for your sister.

  18. Jennie, Or at least getting it past the shortstop, LOL. Thank you for your prayers!

  19. Dear Sarah: Wowser, I thought I was busy! Never mind.
Praying for your sis, and baby Annabelle, to sail through these surgeries with victory, and long lives to tell of God’s glorious love!

    Jen

  20. Jen, Thanks so much for the prayers. Hopefully my month-end report in February will include my sister and Annabelle getting new hearts!

  21. Tamika Eason

I need to start counting how many diapers I change so I can feel some sense of accomplishment! You had an amazing month Sarah!
I love that you are so transparent with the challenges of being a wife. It is so refreshing to pray for our husbands, it blesses them and us!

  22. Tamika, I’m sure it was much more than 200 diapers, but I went on the safe side. :) And oh boy, being a good wife IS a challenge sometimes, isn’t it? I think transparency is essential if we’ll ever get where God wants us to be.

  23. Humorous post, Sarah! I’ve seen your smiling profile pic on so many blogs I’ve visited today, that I just had to stop by! Glad I did! Sounds like we are sisters in Christ! Would love to have you stop by my site, Life Lessons, when you have the opportunity. Looking forward to getting to know you! And Keli IS a very sweet lady – swinging by her site to check out the interview! God bless!

  24. Maria, Thanks so much for stopping by and introducing yourself! I love making new writing friends. I’ll pop on over to your site and check it out.

  25. I will definitely say a prayer for your sister. And wow, what a list! Good for you in praying for your hubs. I should’ve bit my tongue this morning with mine and I didn’t. *sigh* Thanks for the reminder here of what I should be doing. LOL

  26. LOL, Jessica, Sometimes I have to bite until I bleed, but it really does keep things more peaceful, doesn’t it? :) Thanks for the prayers.

  27. I’m still praying for your sister, Sarah.
And, wow, you’ve been a busy girl this month! I’m so excited to see you pop in and out of Twitter. I love catching tid bits of friends’ lives there. I don’t do much social networking or blogging while I work this time of year, but I pop up Tweetdeck every once in awhile.

  28. Heather, I just downloaded Tweetdeck yesterday but haven’t had time to figure it all out. Maybe that’s what I need to download next…an extra 4 hours to each day, lol.
